This 20-hour Certificate of Attendance Intensive Online course will help expand your interpreting skills and work opportunities by enhancing your memory aids using the Fast Method, a note-taking technique created by CCCS, Inc.™. Although note-taking may not be a common practice among healthcare interpreters, we have seen a growing need for incorporating this method into consecutive interpreting for family meetings, healthcare workforce trainings and groups. This technique may be used by interpreters working in any field such as lega, educational and community. Would you like to take notes using a method that is easy to learn, effective to apply and increases your accuracy and flow while interpreting?

The Fast Method is unique to CCCS, Inc.™ and has helped many students and interpreters develop the individual note-taking style for many years. This method differs from the traditional shorthand by combining the use of symbols, healthcare and legal abbreviations. This interactive 15 lesson course provides interpreters with clear steps on how to develop a personal note-taking style in order to maximize one's memory capacity by practicing over 500 exercises. During this course, the students will be guided through the note-taking process while applying their developed skills.

Towards the end of the course, the student is provided with the opportunity to take notes on paragraphs of information. This mimics the interpreting encounter and enables the student to master their note-taking abilities. Due to the quantity and quality of practice, the student should finish the course while using all of the tools needed to improve their note-taking abilities, and above all, their accuracy in the interpreting encounter. Learning this advanced skill will facilitate the flow and accuracy of the session as note-taking can be highly personalized.
